Good deal on refurbished phone

I needed a new phone but didn't want to break the bank, so I looked at their certified restored devices. I found a good deal on a Google Pixel 7. The price was significantly lower than new, and with my autopay discount, it felt like a real saving. The phone looks and works like new; you can't tell it's refurbished. It definitely felt like I got good value for my money, especially since I also qualified for a student discount on my monthly plan. The whole process was simple and cost-effective.

Smooth iPhone upgrade

I ordered an iPhone 15 Pro Max online and used the AT&T Next Up program. The ordering process was straightforward; I just logged into my account and picked the new phone. Shipping took about 4 days to reach me in California, which was pretty standard. The device arrived well-packaged and activated without any issues using the eSIM feature. My old phone was simple to send back for the trade-in credit. Customer support was helpful when I had a question about the trade-in kit, connecting me with a representative quickly via chat. The phone itself is great, and the 5G service has been reliable. Everything went as expected.

Good service, slow delivery

I signed up for an Unlimited Premium plan and got a new Samsung Galaxy S24. The plan itself is solid, and I appreciate the 5G coverage around my area; it's pretty fast. However, the phone took almost a week and a half to arrive, which felt a bit long, especially since I live in a major city. Their customer service was good when I called to inquire about the delay, very polite and tried to track it down. The phone's quality is excellent, no complaints there. Just wish the delivery was a bit quicker.

New Apple Watch was easy

So I finally decided to get an Apple Watch with cellular and link it to my existing AT&T plan. It was super easy to do online. Just added it as a new line for the watch, and it connected up with my iPhone no problem. The watch arrived in like 3 days, which was pretty fast. Everything just worked, which is always nice. Happy with it.

Has anyone actually gotten one of those 'free phone with trade-in' deals to work out smoothly? Seems too good to be true, wondering about the catches.

N Nick Martinez 2 days ago
Yeah, I got an iPhone 14 Pro for 'free' last year with my old iPhone 11 trade-in. It's not totally free upfront, they give you monthly bill credits for 36 months, so you gotta stay with them. But it worked for me.

Did it with a Samsung, they just credit your bill every month. Make sure your trade-in is in good shape though, they'll knock the value down if it's got cracks or anything serious.

Does AT&T do anything for veterans or is it just military currently serving? My dad is a retired vet looking for a new plan.

J Jeff L. 4 days ago
They definitely have a veteran discount! My uncle gets it. It's the same kind of deal as the active military discount, usually a percentage off monthly plans. Just needs to verify status.

G Grace T. 2 days ago
Yeah, vets qualify. You can verify through a site like ID.me usually right on the AT&T website. It applies to certain unlimited plans, usually 25% off.

How long does shipping usually take for a new phone? I need one kinda fast, located in Chicago.

M Mary Allen 2 weeks ago
I'm in the Midwest too, and my last phone ordered from AT&T got here in about 3-4 business days. They use FedEx or UPS usually.

K Karen R. 2 weeks ago
Mine took about a week, but that was during an iPhone launch week, so probably busier. Normal orders usually get there faster, I'd say 3-5 days is a safe bet.

Can you actually use multiple discounts? Like, if I'm eligible for a student discount and also get a trade-in credit, do those stack?

S Sean H. 3 weeks ago
Usually the service discounts (like student/military) stack with device promotions (like trade-in credits). But you usually can't stack two different service discounts. And promo codes are rare for services, more for accessories.

I have a corporate discount and I was still able to get the trade-in deal for my phone. So device promotions and most signature program discounts seem to stack, but don't expect to combine student and first responder discounts, for example.

I'm a teacher, does AT&T actually have a discount for us? And is it easy to apply or is it a whole headache?

N Nathan Roberts 1 month ago
They do have a teacher discount! It's usually 25% off certain unlimited plans. You just have to verify your eligibility online through their portal, it wasn't too bad when I did it.

L Laura Moore 1 month ago
Yep, my wife gets the teacher discount. You just go to their website, find the signature program section, and it walks you through verifying your status. Took about 10 mins.

Are those certified restored devices actually good, or are they basically refurbished junk? Thinking about getting one to save some cash.

R Ryan Gomez 2 weeks ago
I got a certified restored iPhone 12 last year and it's been perfectly fine. Looked and worked like new. They come with a warranty too, which helped me feel better about it.

J Jennifer 1 week ago
They're usually pretty solid. 'Certified restored' means they've been checked out and repaired by AT&T or a certified partner. Not just some random used phone. I'd trust it.

What's the return policy like for phones? If I get a new S24 and decide I hate it, can I send it back easily or is it a hassle?

E Elizabeth 3 weeks ago
You have 14 days to return it from when you get it, I think. Just make sure it's in good condition. You might pay a restocking fee though, I remember seeing that when I looked it up.

A Alex C. 2 weeks ago
Returns were pretty straightforward for me. I had to pay a restocking fee, which sucks, but they processed the refund pretty quickly after they received the phone back.

Thinking of switching to AT&T from T-Mobile, mainly for better coverage in my rural area. Is their 5G really all that great, especially compared to T-Mobile?

W William Robinson 3 weeks ago
I switched last year from T-Mobile to AT&T and honestly, the 5G has been way more consistent for me outside of major cities. T-Mobile was good in town, but AT&T holds up better when I'm out and about.

S Sofia Garcia 2 weeks ago
It really depends where you are. I'm in upstate NY and AT&T's 5G is solid. My buddy in Arizona says T-Mobile is better there. Check their coverage map with your specific address, that's what I did.
